[DD] Designing my game

I found that designing a game is much harder than programming it. I'll admit right away that I'm not a designer, but now I had to dive into this topic.

Game setting  and color choice

First of all, it was necessary to determine the general setting and appearance of the game. I understood that monster battles can be implemented in many ways, or more precisely in different colors and settings. The choice of setting depends on the further design of monsters, characters and the overall interface of the game.

At first I divided the possible options into 2 groups.

1) Battles on the surface

2) Dungeons and caves

In my opinion, battles on the surface of the earth should be in bright colors, and the game will have a light interface. And battles in dungeons and caves mean that the interface should be dark. But this is all words and it is necessary to apply not only imagination, but also visualization. Therefore, I decided to use MidJourney for experiments with visual styles.

First of all, I'll try to generate a few images for monsters from the surface of the earth.

1) First attempt. It looks interesting, but I don't really want to have cute monsters.

2) Second attempt. Also interesting, but I don't really like these options.

3) Third attempt. Hmm….

Okay, now I'll try to generate pictures for dungeons

1) First attempt. Yes, this is already more interesting.

2) Second attempt. Hard to choose.

3) Third attempt. Also interesting.

I've always been more into dark and mystical colors. I also investigated tons of others games. So I decided that the main part of the game would take place in dungeons and caves. This gave me the opportunity to create a dark, mystical interface that reflects the atmosphere of the mysterious dungeons.

Now need to try some designs for the monsters.

Slime

Zombie

Skeleton

Okay, i like general look for the monsters. I started to play with Figma and Adome Illustrator to have my monsters. After few moths of drawing here is some results.
